MINAMIJIMA Noboru, the president of our firm, has over 20 years of experience in the Intellectual property field. He concentrates his practice in patenting machinery with emphasis on automobiles and aircraft, as well as chemistry focusing on material and pharmaceutical sciences. He also has a wide range of experience in prosecution of industrial designs. He has been involved in litigations infringement proceedings and suits against trial decisions in the fields of patents, designs, and trademarks. He has ample knowledge about technical standards such as ISO, JIS and the like and international standardization. SAKAKIBARA Tsuyoshi has more than 10 years of experience in the Intellectual property field. He primarily focuses on intellectual property of machinery, as well as computer control system. He also has extensive experience in prosecution of industrial designs. KOIKE Hiroo has more than 25 years of experience in the Intellectual property field. He focuses on the preparation and prosecution of patent applications, with emphasis on electronics, electrical circuitry and electronic engineering, as well as micro computer engineering. OKUMURA Toru has more than ten years of experience with patents in the industry-active Nagoya region, central Japan. He focuses on patenting machinery, electronics, and electronic engineering related to home appliances and automotive devices. He provides clients with solutions optimized specially for patenting in Japan. He has gained intimate knowledge with various countries’ patent systems through his vast experience of patenting both in Japan and in other regions. With his rich experience, he has established a patent network to effectively protect clients' products and give them a competitive advantage. KUROSE Hayato specializes in trademarks. He covers a wide range of tasks related to trademarks, such as pre-application and infringement searches, prosecution, opposition proceedings, trials, licensing, assignment agreement, and giving opinions. He actively represents clients requesting the suspension of counterfeit products before Japan Customs. Having majored in psychology, he is deeply concerned about consumer sentiment and purchasing interests. He is proactively involved in clients’ projects before trademark applications, coordinating with designers and copywriters. MAKIUCHI Kazumi concentrates on the preparation and prosecution of foreign and domestic patent applications on behalf of both Japanese and overseas clients, with emphasis on machinery and civil engineering, as well as polymer and medical sciences. Before joining SATO, she has worked as a materials engineer in an international tire manufacturer, and as an IP manager in an international pharmaceutical company where she performed IP landscape searches and analyses and reviews of validity, infringement, and patentability. With her working experiences in international companies and understanding of multiple languages, she supports clients’ businesses.
